Today we are highlighting stylist Nancy Davis, who has been working at Ivory Loft since April 2021. She heard about the job from her friend and now fellow stylist, Michelle Phillpotts. Michelle recommended Nancy to Beth (Ivory Lofts Owner) and now two years later she is getting to work alongside friends and help brides find their dream gown. “I was eager to try something new,” says Nancy.

What is your favorite part about getting to work with a bride?

My favorite thing about working with a bride is helping them feel comfortable. I try to establish trust and rapport, and maybe show them a style they had never envisioned themselves in but truly love.

Do you have a favorite designer?

I would have to say my favorite designer is probably Robert Bullock. Robert's designs are so classic and timeless, and his philosophy is to work with each of our brides to make sure their dresses are just what they dreamed of for their special day.

What do you love most about working in bridal fashion?

I absolutely love making brides and their family and friends feel special when they enter Ivory Loft. Our shop is small and intimate; we make sure to slow things down that way brides can breathe and feel pampered through this process.

Can you share a particularly memorable experience you've had with a bride?

A few weeks after I started, I had a bride who knew what she wanted and was very serious and no nonsense about it. We put her in several dresses that fit her “vision” but they weren’t hitting the mark. I then pulled a classic Robert Bullock strapless crepe with a ruched bodice and bam! Her face lit up! A smile emerged and I think a tiny tear or two fell. She felt beautiful and bridal and perfect in a dress she never would have chosen herself. That moment felt really good.

Any advice for newly engaged brides looking to find their dream dress?

Keep your mind open, try on several out-of-the-box styles and keep your entourage small. Too many opinions early on can be overwhelming.
